dq 1 LOCAL 26 Sept 1992
NAME
dq - removes one or more entries from a batch queue
SYNTAX
dq
QUEUE
QUEUE
:: the name of a batch queue; prompted for if not supplied
SYNOPSIS
.LP
Lists the jobs you submitted to the named queue, with an index number;
use the index number to indicate which job to remove from the queue.
Multiple index numbers may be entered, but they *must* be in descending
order. Note that it is an error to simply remove the very first line of
the queue.txt file, i.e. the entry for a running job. When that job
(entry #1) is chosen,
dq
will list likely processes on the proper host and prompt for a process
ID;
dq
will then attempt to kill that job, and check for the PID after a one
second delay. It is required to always delete jobs with higher index
numbers first, especially if a running job is to be removed from the
queue. Note that killing the running job on a parallel queue may
require manual intervention to cleanup the "slave" processes in some
cases.
If no arguments are supplied, a queue name is prompted for. The queue
name is validated against the list of queues maintained in
/batch/batch_queues, and
dq
exits if the queue is not defined.
