LoBoS2 is an implementation of a Beowulf-class supercomputer. It consists of 100 dual PentiumII computers connected with Gigabit and Fast Ethernet networks. LoBoS2 has been implemented with gigabit communications paths in a fat tree topology. Although partially converted to desktop machines, LoBoS2 continues to be used for performing molecular modeling simulations as well as other computational biology applications. The original LoBoS2 configuration is listed below.

1 3COM - CoreBuilder 9000
  • Used to support a gigabit backbone connecting LoBoS, LoBoS2, RAID server and desktop workstations.

  • 16 and 24 10/100BaseT ports and a Gigabit uplink
